Freeport Station

Freeport is where LL Bean is and is a nice day trip from Portland or Brunswick for outlet shoping. The Station can be found at 29 Depot St., Freeport, ME 04032 43.855077, -70.102277 mpl 7.58.

When you arrive at Freeport Station check out the old fire hose tower, it was used for hanging the hoses up to dry after use. The tower was built before 1901, is all wood, and is one of only a handful of these wood towers left standing. This is also the Visitor Center for Freeport and open to the public.

Directions to Freeport Station from Portland Station

  • Head northeast on Thompson's Point drive 0.2 mi
  • Turn right onto Fore River Pkwy drive 0.1 mi
  • Take the ramp onto I-295 N drive 16.2 mi
  • Take exit 20 for Desert Rd toward Freeport drive 0.4 mi
  • Follow signs for Freeport Village and turn right onto Desert Rd drive 1.2 mi
  • Turn right onto Mill St drive 358 ft
  • Continue straight onto Depot St drive 272 ft
  • Destination will be on the right
